Seiya and Usagi's Love

They're the lesser-spoken up couple. Seiya and Usagi. They only get one season together, and it's a season full of turns and swerves determined to break Seiya's Don't worry Usagi! Seiya will protect you!undying love for his "odango". But yet, deep in his soul, Seiya loves Usagi, and he isn't afraid to admit it.

While she won't admit it, and she doesn't really know it outright, it's plainly obvious that somewhere, deep in the corner of her heart, Usagi really does love Seiya. And even though in episode 200, she makes a fool of herself by admitting that she never thought Seiya thought of her as more than a friend, you can tell... you just can tell.

Isn't this sweet? See how nicely Seiya's arm fits around Usagi's tiny, scared body?Seiya's Star Single "Ginga Isshinbun Chigai na Kata Omoi" ("A Galaxy of Difference: One Sided Love") was written for Usagi, with some lyrics going (translated): "Painful times; anxious times, I will be with you..."; "For you I'd even give my life"; "You're a Princess too"; "Always show me your smile"... etc. etc. Also, listening to the song "Todokanu Omoi: My Friend's Love" ("Thoughts That Can't Be Delivered: My Friend's Love"), you get the feeling it was written by Seiya for Usagi, since it's about impossible love, and everything Seiya feels about Usagi.

Seiya comforting Usagi... now come on! He loves her!!!Another prime example is episode 188 (the *best* episode in my honest opinion... second place goes to "Seiya to Usagi no Dokidoki Date" ^_~). Usagi's worried because Sailor Animamate Aluminum Siren is going to hyjack the plane her friends are on. Siren sent her a ticket, and the possessed flight attendant had pushed Usagi up to the top floor, where Seiya and the other two Lights are. Usagi is very scared, because of the fact that Siren is going to attack, but Seiya, upon seeing her arrival and her reaction, puts his arm around her and softly comforts her. "If anything bad happens, I'll protect you," he promises.

Later, Siren attacks, bolting the Three Lights down to their seats with these pretty-much unbreakable "seatbelt" like things. "Seiya!" Usagi screams. Aluminum Siren mumbles on in Japanese, then says "I want your Star Seed, Tsukino Usagi... no, Sailor Moon." This causes all three of the Lights to look at Usagi in shock. "Odango..." Seiya softly murmurs. Siren gets her little bracelet thingies out (did I ever tell you that Aluminum Siren is my favourite Animamate? Now you know. Did you care?) and does her little "Anata no Sutaa Shiido" speech, when, suddenly, Seiya breaks out of his bonds.

"Seiya!" Yaten gasps.

Seiya looks at Usagi, and screams:

"Fighter Star Power! MAKE-UP!"

Of course, this results in the gasps and the "No way"s that always occur when someone figures out who one of the Sailor Senshi are. And the rest of the episode goes on... and it's awesome... and we're all happy!

But at the end, in episode 200 (which I admit, was very lame, sorry), Mamoru comes back (Boo...er...I mean...uh...swell! I guess...) and when the Starlights are going to leave, Seiya pipes up:

"Mamoru-san!"

Mamoru looks up, confused.

"It's your turn to take care of Odango!"

Mamoru is now very puzzled. Seiya relaxes.

"I'm sorry. I guess I was getting a little snotty."

Mamoru nods and then a tearful goodbye ceremony is exchanged by Seiya and Usagi, in which Usagi shows that she can't figure out Seiya loves her. :-(

Oh well. As long as there are fanfics, Seiya and Usagi will always be together.
